John Lee Ninja Swords: Togakure-Ryu NinjaTo
Legend suggests that the Togakure Ryu ninjato was born from the broken blade of a katana during battle. The sword was most often shorter than the Katana, this was used to deceive one's opponents into miscalculating how quickly it could be drawn allowing one to strike & cut faster than expected. Another advantage to using such a short sword was the increased ease of fighting at close quarter. The use of the longer handle is also incorperated into the fighting arts of the ninja.
The sword is handforged and features the longer tsuka familiar to the ninjusu style of kenjutsu, normally ninja swords have low quality fittings, simply because the manufacturers/swordsmiths are cutting corners, this sword was historically supposed to look like a katana and does, the rich deep lacquered saya give the appearance and feel of the standard katana with the koiguchi, kojiri and kurigata made from polished black horn. The tsuka is tightly wrapped in black ito and features genuine ray skin and double pegged.
This sword is curved and traditionally handforged, no licence needed
