The Witham Viking Seax is a collectible reproduction inspired by a 10th-century scramseax, a type of Germanic single-edged knife. Historical examples ranged in size from 2.9 inches to 29.5 inches and were traditionally carried in a horizontal sheath at the front of the belt. The terms scramseax, scramasax, scram, seax and sax are associated with this historical design; scram refers to food and seax to a blade. This Legacy Arms reproduction features a reduced-diameter leather handle for a comfortable grip, with the tang peened over the metal end cap. A stitched brown leather scabbard with belt hanger is included. Intended as a collectible piece for historical display. Point of Balance: 2 1/2 inches, Width at Guard: 1 3/8 inches, Thickness at Guard: 5.5mm, Thickness at Tip: 1mm.
