Description
The PSK Plus XL Light Katana brings back a well-regarded CAS Hanwei Performance Series design with updated fittings and the practical character associated with the line. Its refreshed tsuba, fuchi, kashira and menuki are produced from new tooling, giving the piece a cleaner presentation while retaining the classic Practical Plus character. The 28 1/2" forged 1566 steel blade features XL Light geometry with bo-hi on both sides, reducing overall weight while retaining the broad blade profile associated with the Performance Series. Differential hardening gives the edge a stated hardness of HRC60 and the spine a stated hardness of HRC40. The 3/4" sori, 5 1/2" point of balance and 2 lb 9 oz weight provide balanced proportions for collection and display. CAS Hanwei production continues under experienced Dalian artisans at the Dragon King forge, following the closure of the original Hanwei forge in 2024.
