PSK XL Katana

The PSK XL Katana brings CAS Hanwei’s well-regarded Performance Series back with the same purpose-led blade geometry that made it a trusted choice for serious Japanese sword practitioners, now with refreshed fittings for a cleaner, more classic appearance. The updated tsuba, fuchi, kashira and menuki are produced from new tooling, giving the sword a crisp look while retaining the practical, low-maintenance tsuka components associated with the Practical Katana lineage. Its 28 1/2" forged 1566 steel blade uses Performance XL geometry for strong cutting performance on properly prepared heavy practice media, including tatami and thick bamboo. Differential hardening gives the blade a hard HRC 60 edge with a tougher HRC 40 spine, balancing edge performance with resilience. With an overall length of 40 3/4", a 5" point of balance and a weight of 2 lb 14 oz, the PSK XL Katana is built as a substantial, purposeful sword within the CAS Hanwei range. Made under the continuing CAS Hanwei brand tradition, this updated model reflects the manufacturing knowledge carried forward from the original Hanwei heritage.
